The Palm IR functionality (beaming) creates a viable conduit for propogation of malignant code. The RF functionality (wireless) in Palm is by radio modem (connected to palm.net) and in simputer by a soft-modem (28.8Kbps) to a T1 line. Contagious code can be avoided by cyrptographic code signing of applications. The keys kept on Smart cards / secure digital external memory.
